Taking a break

I didn’t run yesterday, even though I promised I would. I got out there and tried, after a half hour morning walk and a half hour yoga session in the afternoon, and I just couldn’t do it. Every step was agony. I was still horribly, painfully sore from Wednesday’s workout. As luck would have it, most of the worst soreness was in my quads, glutes, and hamstrings… you know, those things you use to run? So I made an executive decision.

I need a break.

Between hormones and soreness and general fatigue, my body feels beaten and I need to let it slow down a little bit. I am still on track, still eating healthy and making good choices. I will go for another long walk this morning, and I will fit in several more exercise opportunities over the course of the weekend. Then when Monday rolls around again, I will start week 4 of Couch to 5K for the third time. It’s the first week I’ll repeat twice, but probably not the last…

If I’m honest, I’ll admit that I am a little bit bothered at having to repeat weeks, but it’s what I need to do this and do it right, so I’m more than willing to do it. I just have to keep my end goal in mind, which is to complete the C25K program and successfully complete a 5K event while (at least mostly) running. If I can get there, I’ll call this a totally successful venture no matter how many times I had to repeat a week.

The rest of this weekend will be spent taking it easy and finding low impact exercises to do while enjoying my time with the family. I hope your weekend is equally relaxing.

  2. Listen to you body. It’s a journey not a race. You’re changing the whole recipe and sometimes the best tasting ones take a while to baste. Love the post! Thanks for the smiles. šŸ™‚

  3. Nothing wrong with taking a break ! Or repeating weeks on the C25K. You’re moving and that’s what matters! Enjoy your weekend šŸ™‚

  4. Why can’t we have massage therapists and chiropractors and saunas? Huh? They have it on BL. Maybe we should change venues?

    Nah.

You got this babe. Take it easy.
