Mamavation Monday: Move It & Lose It

Watch Lives ChangeOkay, I’m an idiot and thought the Move It & Lose It challenge started THIS week… but it turns out it started last week…  So I don’t even know if it counts that I’m doing a post for it now.  I’ll try anyway though, and hope for the best.

Here’s my weigh in for this week:

So yeah… I’m THRILLED!  After last Saturday’s crazy bingefest, I worked really hard all week to eat well and move more, and it clearly paid off!  I’m feeling really good about it.

Here are my measurements:

Left arm: 13.5in
Right arm: 13.5in
Chest: 39.5in
Bellybutton: 38in
Hip: 44in
Left thigh: 24.5in
Right thigh: 24.5in

I never took my measurements in January when I started this whole health journey, so the earliest comparison I have is to measurements I took in March.  Since mid-March, I’ve lost 3.5 inches in my chest, 3.5 inches from my waist, and 3.25 inches from my hips.  That feels pretty awesome.

Mamavation Monday: Thanks

I was not chosen as a Mamavation finalist this time, but I wanted to thank all of you for your support and encouragement.  I’ll probably be applying for the next Mamavation campaign, so I’ll keep you up to date on that!  Until then, here’s another vlog for you:

There are several things I want to talk about this morning.  First of all, as I touched on in the video, I know I was too hard on myself in yesterday’s Slimdown results post.  The truth is that I was hoping for more results specifically in my stomach, which is one of the places where I feel like the results are least obvious, so when I didn’t see more change in the tummy, I couldn’t get past that enough to see the changes in my arms or thighs or the significant butt shrinkage.  So thank you to everyone who left comments and helped me to see that I really did achieve something.  I’m still a little bit irked because I “only” lost 5 pounds and 5 inches, since I’ve seen people lose 10-15 inches and ten pounds or more… but I know that’s not fair and I’m working hard on just being proud of all my dedication and hard work.

In celebration, I gave myself the day off yesterday!  Today, I’ve decided to start following the recommendations of some friends and try for 25-40 minutes of cardio, 5-7 days per week along with 2-3 days of 25-40min strength training.  I may work in some Jillian videos since I have them and I can tell they’re doing something.  I’ll also be trying out the New York City Ballet workout today for the first time, so I’ll have a review of that up tomorrow.

I know I’m constantly bothering everyone about this Mamavation campaign lately, but the truth is that it really means a lot to me.  I really want to be a part of this, and I know I don’t have a chance without your help and support.

I try to support all of your causes too, I really do.  I try to vote for you in contests, send traffic your way… so I’m hoping I’ve done enough to establish a relationship with a lot of you that I can keep on bothering you for just a little while longer.

Today, Bookieboo is asking for more information about the Mamavation applicants.  Five applicants will be chosen as finalists on Monday.  Right now, she’s asking for help in deciding those applicants:

But I need some help in making my decision. Do you know any of these women? If so, can you tell me something about them? Have they ever done anything nice for you? Do you have a funny story, story of triumph, story about who they are everyday? Anything. If you are part of the Mamavation Sistahood and one of these women has done something for you I’d like to hear about it as well. So if you know them and like them show them the love in the comments below please. This will help my decision making. Thanks!

Hi all!  As part of my Mamavation campaign, I’ll be posting videos every Monday for your pleasure!  Today’s topic: motivation.  How do you get it, how do you keep it, what do you do when you lose it?  [In case you’re curious, I’m sitting on the floor and my daughter is in her crib, which is why I am looking up at her…  :)]

So that’s my question to you today!  Something else I was thinking of as I sweated my way through Shred level 1 & 2 today…  do you ever feel angry or frustrated by getting healthy?  Do you ever, in the midst of a particularly challenging workout or bad day, feel deeply irritated by how hard you have to work?  I do.  Sometimes, in the middle of a workout or the end of a hard day, I get a little angry.  It bugs me that I have to work SO HARD to see results… but then it’s worth it, and really… doesn’t everyone have to work hard?  Are there really people out there who are just healthy, with no effort?  I doubt it.

This vlogging thing is kind of fun!

Mamavation has just started it’s fifth Mamavation Mom campaign, and I’ve decided to audition to be a part of it.  The campaign will choose two moms to receive a virtual boot camp training for seven weeks including a nutrition plan, fitness guidance, and a ton of support and love from the Mamavation online community.
